An article from Perspectives From the Field
Writing by Carl Evers III, AgIS Capital Director of Sustainability
This growing season our farm team has once again been conducting distribution uniformity tests on California permanent crop irrigation systems.
As expected, we are gaining valuable insights in how to operate the systems more efficiently and have identified repairs to make in the off season. Remember that oftentimes these tests can be funded by your local RCD (Resource Conservation District), so please check in with them to learn more.
Optimizing irrigation efficiency helps us optimize crop production while minimizing water, energy, fertilizer inputs, and Greenhouse Gas impact per unit of production. Also, higher efficiency means better returns to our clients.
We would like to thank the Tehama County RCD and East Stanislaus RCD for their assistance in testing this year.
